About the practice
Dr. Larisa Likver is a Board-Certified Physiatrist practicing medicine for over 30 years in New York City and internationally. She brings a unique, holistic perspective on healing injuries for all age groups at her practices in Manhattan and Brooklyn, where she has been treating patients for nearly two decades.
Treatment approach & procedures
- Non-surgical, musculoskeletal focus: Dr. Likver specializes in non-surgical treatment for a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, drawing on extensive international experience.
- Whole-person, root-cause care planning: Uses a holistic, results-oriented approach—looking beyond an isolated injury/symptom to identify patient needs and underlying causes—then builds an individualized care plan aimed at durable outcomes.
- Regenerative and related procedures offered: Provides multiple regenerative/orthobiologic interventions, including Prolotherapy, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) prolotherapy, Orthobiologic therapy, PIT (perineural injection treatment / neural prolotherapy), Neural therapy, and Prolozone therapy, along with other conventional and alternative treatments.
- Ultrasound-guided precision: A long-time user of musculoskeletal ultrasonography and uses ultrasound guidance for regenerative injections to improve precision, reduce discomfort, and optimize results.
- PIT / Neural Prolotherapy expertise: Trained in PIT (perineural injection therapy, originally called Neural Prolotherapy) through direct training from the technique’s originator, New Zealand physician Dr. John Lyftgoft.
- Healing philosophy: Emphasizes supporting the body’s natural healing capacity by combining established techniques with newer medical advances.
Credentials, education & professional activities
- Board-certified Physiatrist with 30+ years in practice (New York City and internationally).
- Medical degree: Odessa State Medical School (Odessa, Ukraine).
- U.S. training: Immigrated to the U.S. in 1990, passed the USMLE, completed SUNY Downstate PM&R residency, and later established private practices in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
- RMSK credential: Credentialed in Registered Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (RMSK); early adopter/pioneer in integrating MSK ultrasound in clinical practice for nearly two decades.
- Prolotherapy training: Trained through the Hackett-Hemwall Patterson Foundation (HHPF).
- Volunteerism & teaching: Participates in medical missions (Honduras and Mexico) delivering prolotherapy to underserved populations; has served as an instructor/mentor and presented an HHPF teach-in (2019) on diagnostic ultrasound use in prolotherapy.
- Ongoing education: Remains active in national and international conferences to stay current on best practices.
